About
I’m Dr. Elena Marsh,

a psychiatrist who
listens first,

then treats.
Fifteen years of psychiatry, a mindfulness teacher’s training, and one small practice built around unhurried visits. Here is who I am and how I work.
Experience

Fifteen years ago I sat with a patient who had not slept in nine days. Nobody had asked what the nights were like.
Medicine was treating the symptom and missing the person, so I trained in psychiatry to stay in the room long enough to understand both. Residency at Johns Hopkins and a fellowship in anxiety disorders gave me the science. Patients taught me the rest: slow first sessions, plain language and plans people can follow.
Today I run a small private practice in Austin with secure video visits across Texas. Appointments last 50 minutes, never 15, and every plan is built with you and changed when life changes.

Decide together
Every option is explained in plain language, and nothing is decided in a hurry.
Review often
Plans change when life changes, so we check in and adjust.
That is the most common place to begin. In the first visit we do the sorting together: what has been weighing on you, what you hope changes, and what can wait. You do not need a diagnosis or the right words.
No. Medication is one option among several, never a requirement. We talk through therapy, mindfulness and lifestyle approaches first, and any medication is a shared decision you can revisit or stop with guidance.
Yes. Most follow-ups happen by secure video, and first visits can too. We are licensed in three states, so telehealth works wherever you are within them.
Fees are listed plainly before you book, with no surprises afterwards. We accept most major insurance, and we offer a clear self-pay rate if you prefer to go without.
Yes. Your records and conversations are protected by medical confidentiality and HIPAA. Information is only shared with your written consent, or in the rare cases the law requires for safety.
About an hour of conversation. We listen to your story, ask a few clinical questions, and finish with a plain-language plan and a next step. No tests are done to you.
